About the Dork

Picture 006 copy.jpgI talk a good game, yet do I have any idea what I’m saying?

I’m a city/suburbs kid, a fly who grew up in the buttermilk most of his life and is still stroking towards the edge. In case you missed it, I was schooled at the University of North Carolina (where I toted a football for a moment or two) and the University of Tennessee College of Law. I worked in politics much of my career, however, most people know me as a part time critic for the Nashville Scene The Tennessean, Rage, and other national publications . You may also know me as the dude in the orange hat standing next to Marc Ruffalo in The Last Castle. I’m supposed to know something about Japanese film and pop culture, however my Japanese wife tells me I know nothing.

My day job is Assistant Dir. and Senior Research Analyst for the study of the history of desegregation in higher education in TN.

Nashvillians can check out the weekly radio show FREESTYLES with Ron Wynn where I am a (almost) regular guest commentator (88.1 FM, Mondays at 6)

I also write about “urban” music for the Tennessean’s Tune in Music City music blog.

  1. Appreciate having a brothas’ back @ the blackprof thread. Nice looking family. A good college friend walked away from a full-ride at your alma-mater – would have been the starting punter Fall 81′ (bad move on his part) to attend a HCBU on a business scholarship. He was Heels fanatic though, never quite understood that move.

  2. Thanks, no problem on the blackprof thing.

I think I may know why your friend didn’t take the scholarship. IIRC the punter who was their during my freshman year went pro, and that would have been his senior season. He might have started that year but the next year, maybe, maybe not.
