Strange fist tap to Poplicks for breaking the news for me. I woke up in the middle of the night on the couch in Little Dork’s room and got up to check my Email and saw that, much to the chagrin of insufferably self-righteous White sportswriters across America, Henry Aaron’s home run record has fallen. [...]

Stylesfree, our new arts/culture blog is slowly getting on its feet. Few posts, few views, fewer comments. Stop on over and see what’s what. http://stylesfree.wordpress.com
How negligent I’ve been in writing about the Tar Heel baseball team’s post season success. The ended the season ranked #3 and are back in Omaha in the College World Series. [...]

Very detailed look at Daisuke Matsuzaka. Who will get this guy? He wants to go to Seattle, and I don’t blame him for that. Of course it would be nice if the Mets got him, I think if they’re planning on getting back to the post season they will need him (or someone like him) [...]

“I tracked it all the way to the glove,” Beltran said. “I was hoping he would call a ball or something but it was a strike and game over.”

I used to collect caps. I had about 40. Then I did the dreadlock thing. I still have the caps; among them I don’t recall how many UNC caps (a lot) and 4 New York Mets caps. It would just about do to cut my hair just so that I could put on one of those Mets [...]

There’s a story floating that when New York Mets 3rd baseman David Wright recently signed his new multi-million dollar deal, the kid asked the Mets’ PR rep for a copy of the press release as a souvenier. You see why we love this guy? Sorry, what? Yes, the home runs, but I mean, come on.

Had no idea that the Mets traded Kaz Matsui. It’s something the fans were clamoring for in NY for some time. I suppose he never quite got a hold of the hitting part of playing in the States; there are probably a lot cheaper 2nd basemen hitting .250. Gotta find out who they got for [...]
