Halftime JPN 1 Brasil 1

June 22, 2006

This was pretty much how I expected the match to end, as I thought Japan might sneak through a goal as Brasil lollygagged through a match which would have little impact on them as they move on into the next round. Well, Brasil seemed encamped in the Japanese goal box through most of the first half, however, great saves and timely, desperate tackles kept them in the match. Alex proved instrumental as he sent first time starter Tamada through on a beautiful ball. The Japanese keeper Kawaguchi has been brilliant the entire game and it appeared as if Japan would take a shocking 1 – nil lead into the tunnel at the half . . .
Until . . .
Nakazawa appeared to fall asleep and allowed Ronaldo to lumber behind and get a header on a set play. This was big for the Brazilian side as the team rallied around their leader who had been beleaguered in the press for being a bit heavy.

Japan's midfield had given the ball away quite a bit during the first half. Still Brasil could not score. Let's see how it goes.

Cannot say that it shows much boasting of a Brasil victory here Carol. Aren’t Brasil favored to win the tournament? Give credit like I gave, no one likes sore winners.
