TOKYO — Reeling from more reports of illness at screenings of “Babel,” distrib Gaga on Tuesday sent posters to theaters, placed ads in newspapers and posted a notice on its Web site, warning auds that the film contains “highly stimulating effects.” Since the pic’s release in Japan on 300 screens on April 28, auds in theaters around the country have experienced discomfort and nausea, especially from a scene in which Rinko Kikuchi, playing a hearing-impaired high school girl, goes to a club with a spinning strobe light. So far a total of 15 patrons in Aichi, Mie, Miyagi, Fukushima, Niigata and Chiba prefectures, as well as the cities of Tokyo and Osaka, have complained of illness to theater management, with one patron in Tokyo being taken to the hospital by ambulance.

I felt the same way upon leaving the theater. It wasn’t because of the strobes, though.
